Blogging assignment 18 (English credit please :)

There are several new Minnesota state laws that are taking affect as of January 1st, 2012. Some of which are:

-Nursing home reimbursement rate formula changes.
This means that the new rates will be based on an updated minimum dataset or any new version mandated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that nursing facilities are required to complete for all residents. The new law also states that the health commissioner shall establish resident classes according to updated resource utilization groups.

-Donation for anatomical gift program
This means that in addition to being asked if they want to be an organ donor, people applying for a driver’s license or state identification card will be asked to contribute $2.00 to a donor awareness campaign. The same question will be posed when registering and transferring title on a motor vehicle. The money from donations will be used as grants to federally certified organ procurement organizations and nonprofit organizations that advocate for organ and tissue donation.

I feel like It is a good idea to ask people if they would like to donate money to a donor awareness campaign. I'm a organ donor on my permit and I feel other people who are as well would want to donate a little money to an awareness campaign supporting organ donors.
